Lemon Butter Chicken Tenders

Lemon Butter Chicken Tenders are coated with a seasoned flour mixture, seared to golden brown, and finished in a skillet with butter, garlic, and fresh lemon juice. The herbs oregano, thyme, and paprika add subtle flavor depth, while the butter and lemon create a rich and tangy sauce that coats the juicy chicken tenders. This technique yields tender, flavorful chicken with a balanced buttery citrus glaze.

Description

This Lemon Butter Chicken Tenders recipe involves seasoning chicken tenderloins with salt, pepper, herbs, and a light flour coating before pan searing. The tenders are cooked over medium-high heat in olive oil and butter until golden brown, ensuring a crisp outer layer while locking in moisture. Near the end of cooking, additional butter and minced garlic are added around the chicken, allowing the garlic to infuse the butter without burning. Finishing with fresh lemon juice and minced parsley creates a bright, buttery sauce that lightly coats the chicken.

The result is tender chicken with a balanced flavor from dried oregano, thyme, and paprika complemented by the rich butter and fresh citrus. These chicken tenders work well as a main dish accompanied by simple sides like vegetables, rice, or potatoes. The straightforward method highlights the natural chicken flavor enhanced by the delicate herb and citrus notes.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 1/2 lbs chicken tenderloin or tenderloins
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano dried
  • 1/2 tsp thyme dried
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter divided
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice fresh
  • 3 Tbsp parsley minced

Instructions

  1. Heat a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season chicken tenders with salt and pepper. Then evenly sprinkle over oregano, thyme, paprika, and flour. Toss to evenly coat.
  3. Add oil to the skillet along with 1 Tbsp butter. Carefully tilt pan to evenly coat.
  4. Add chicken tenders to skillet, leaving a little space between them.
  5. Let cook until golden brown on bottom, about 3 minutes. Turn and cook 2 minutes or until nearly cooked through.
  6. Once chicken is nearly cooked through (about 155 in center) add remaining 2 Tbsp butter and sprinkle garlic around the chicken (don't sprinkle on the chicken or it won't cook).
  7. Continue to cook until chicken is just cooked through (165 in center of each piece), about 1 minute longer.
  8. Remove from heat. Carefully pour in lemon juice and add parsley. Toss to coat then serve.
