Lemon Drop Martini

The Lemon Drop Martini is a citrus-forward cocktail featuring vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and an orange liqueur such as Cointreau. The glass rimmed with lemon sugar adds a sweet and tangy accent. Shaking the ingredients with ice chills the mixture thoroughly, creating a crisp, balanced drink garnished with a lemon twist or wedge.

Description

The Lemon Drop Martini recipe involves preparing lemon sugar by combining granulated sugar with lemon zest to coat the martini glass rim, lending a fresh citrus aroma and sweetness. The cocktail is made by shaking vodka, freshly squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, and Cointreau (or triple sec) with ice until very cold. Strained into the rim-coated glass, it offers bright acidity and smooth sweetness with a subtle orange flavor from the liqueur.

This cocktail is enjoyed immediately to preserve its crisp temperature and the fresh lemon garnish. The contrasting textures of the tangy sugar rim and smooth liquid enhance the drinking experience. Cointreau is preferred due to its higher alcohol content, but triple sec works as a suitable substitution.

For the lemon twist garnish, a thin strip of lemon peel is cut and twisted to release oils and shape, adding fragrance and a decorative touch to the drink.
