Loaded BBQ Chicken Totchos
Description
This recipe begins by baking a layer of tater tots until hot and slightly crispy. Meanwhile, cooked chicken is combined with BBQ sauce to infuse smoky sweetness into the protein. The chicken mixture is spread over the tots, then topped with shredded Monterey Jack cheese, red onions, and crumbled bacon. A second layer of cheese goes on top before baking again until melted and heated through.
The result is a substantial dish with chewy and crunchy textures from the tots and bacon, tender chicken with tangy BBQ flavor, and creamy melted cheese tying the components together. Fresh toppings like sour cream, tomato, avocado, cilantro, and jalapeño can be added to tailor flavors and balance richness with freshness and heat.
These totchos serve well as a casual snack or shared main dish, with adaptabilities noted to customize ingredients and quantities according to preference. The method supports layering flavors effectively and ensures even baking.

- 3 cups chicken cooked, chopped

- While the tater tots bake, combine the cooked chicken and BBQ sauce.
- Top the tater tots evenly with the chicken mixture, half of the cheese, red onion, bacon, and remaining cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and all the ingredients are heated through.

- Making your own BBQ sauce can deepen flavor; use your preferred recipe.
