Loaded Mashed Potatoes
Description
Loaded Mashed Potatoes bring together quartered red potatoes cooked until tender with flavorful additions like ranch seasoning and minced garlic. The potatoes retain some skin, adding body and bite to the fluffy mash. Mixing in butter, sour cream, and milk yields a smooth, creamy texture. Baking the prepared mash topped with shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon bits, and chopped chives melts the cheese and crisps the bacon slightly, enhancing the dish’s richness and layered taste.
The result is a hearty side dish with balanced flavors: the tang from sour cream and ranch seasoning contrasts the cheddar and butter’s richness, while bacon introduces smokiness and chives add a fresh herbal note. These potatoes pair well with roasted meats or can be served at gatherings where a comforting dish is welcome.
This recipe relies on careful mashing for light, fluffy texture and baking just long enough for cheese to melt without drying the potatoes. Using cooked bacon and fresh chives ensures pronounced flavor contrasts and pleasing mouthfeel throughout.
