Louisiana Hot Shrimp Dip with Cream Cheese
Description
Louisiana Hot Shrimp Dip with Cream Cheese combines diced shrimp sautéed with green onions and red bell pepper in butter, then blended into a creamy mixture of cream cheese and sour cream. Creole seasoning adds a distinctive spice, while lemon juice and parsley contribute brightness and freshness to the dip. The shrimp pieces soften during cooking and the mixture thickens into a rich, smooth dip that holds well for serving.
The dip's savory flavor profile centers on the balance of buttery seafood and tangy dairy elements complemented by the vibrant Creole spices. The green onion tops provide a fresh garnish that enhances color and mild onion notes. This dip works well as a cold or slightly warm appetizer paired with bread, crackers, or raw vegetables for dipping.
This recipe uses smaller shrimp, ideally counted 40/50 per pound, which are cooked until just pink to maintain tenderness before being mixed into the creamy base. Using homemade Creole seasoning allows control over the heat and flavor intensity. The mixture is simmered briefly to meld flavors and cook out any sharp raw cream cheese taste.

- Bring to a simmer and then cook for 2 minutes until everything is thick and creamy.

- Serve garnished with the reserved spring onion greens and a little extra parsley.
Notes
- Use smaller shrimp sized around 40 to 50 per pound for the best texture and flavor distribution in the dip.
- A homemade Creole seasoning blend provides the most authentic seasoning level and flavor; however, store-bought blends can be used if preferred.
- This dip pairs well with bread, crackers, or vegetable batons as dippers, none of which are included in the nutritional information.
