Low Carb Barbecue Sauce

This Low Carb Barbecue Sauce is made by sautéing onion and garlic with dry spices before adding strained tomatoes, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and water to simmer and meld flavors. The resulting sauce balances tangy, smoky, and mildly spicy notes with a thick texture, suitable for low-carb diets and enhancing grilled or roasted meats.

Description

The recipe for Low Carb Barbecue Sauce starts with sautéing finely chopped onion and garlic in avocado oil until soft and aromatic. Then dry mustard powder, chili powder, and smoked paprika are added and cooked briefly to release their flavors. The sauce base is formed by adding strained tomatoes, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and water, which is then simmered for 20 minutes to thicken and blend.

This slow simmer allows the spices and tangy vinegar to meld with the tomato base, creating a balanced barbecue sauce that provides depth without added sugars. The smoke and chili powder give the sauce a mild heat and smoky profile while keeping carbohydrates low.

This sauce pairs well with grilled, baked, or roasted meats and can be refrigerated in glass containers. It offers a flavorful alternative to traditional sweet barbecue sauces for those limiting carbs.
