Low Carb Breakfast Casserole
Description
This breakfast casserole features browned sausage and crisp bacon mixed into a blend of eggs, milk, grated cheddar cheese, diced onion, and bell pepper. The combination is seasoned with hot sauce, salt, and black pepper, contributing subtle spiciness and balanced seasoning. Pouring this mix into a baking dish and baking at 350°F ensures a firm yet tender texture, with golden edges developing over 35 to 40 minutes.
The result is a dense, moist casserole with distinct layers of flavor from the browned meat and melted cheese. The vegetables add mild sweetness and texture contrast. The hot sauce adds a gentle heat without overwhelming the dish.
It can be served warm sliced as a main breakfast item or as a protein-rich brunch dish. Toppings like sour cream and chives can provide additional flavor contrast and creaminess.
For a lower carb variation, substitute half the milk with heavy cream. Cooling slightly before slicing helps the casserole hold its shape.
