Mahi Mahi Tacos
Description
This recipe involves seasoning fresh mahi mahi strips evenly with blackened seasoning before cooking them in a skillet with butter and olive oil until fully cooked. The blackened seasoning imparts a smoky, well-spiced crust on the fish. The cooked fish is layered over a bed of Mexican-style coleslaw inside small keto-friendly tortillas.
The chipotle aioli adds a creamy, mildly spicy element drizzled atop the fish, enhancing the flavor complexity. Together, these components create tacos with a combination of tender, flaky fish, crisp, tangy slaw, and a smooth sauce that rounds out the dish.
Mahi Mahi Tacos make a satisfying meal with a focus on fresh seafood and bold seasoning. Optional sliced avocado can be added for extra creaminess and richness. These tacos are suitable for low-carb diets due to keto tortilla use and can be served as a filling lunch or dinner option.
Fish alternatives such as cod, red snapper, grouper, or salmon can be used if mahi mahi is unavailable, accommodating different preferences or availability. Nutrition facts for the tacos may vary depending on the tortilla choice and additional toppings.
Ingredients
- 24 ounces mahi mahi cut into strips, fresh
- 1 batch coleslaw Mexican style
- 1 batch chipotle aioli
- 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning homemade
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- tortillas keto friendly
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet to medium and add in the butter and olive oil.
- Sprinkle the blackened seasoning on all sides of each piece of mahi mahi.
- Pan fry each piece for a few minutes on each side, until they are cooked through. Take some of the Mexican Coleslaw and add it to the bottom of a small Keto Tortilla.
- Add the strips of blackened Mahi Mahi over the coleslaw and add a little more on top. Then add a drizzle of the Chipotle Aioli over the top and serve. I added some thinly sliced avocado to mine, but that is completely optional.
Notes
- If mahi mahi is unavailable, substitute with cod, red snapper, grouper, or salmon based on preference.
- Calculate nutrition separately for the tortillas as their macros vary depending on brand or homemade recipes.
- Optional avocado slices can be added inside the tacos for added richness and texture.
