Mango Habanero Sauce

This Mango Habanero Sauce blends sweet ripe mangoes with spicy habanero chiles, complemented by carrot, onion, garlic, honey, apple cider vinegar, and fresh lime juice. The sauce is pureed smooth, then simmered until thickened, producing a sweet, tangy, and spicy condiment with a well-rounded flavor. It can be refrigerated and adds a fruity heat to dishes when served chilled.

Description

The Mango Habanero Sauce begins by finely chopping carrot, onion, and habanero peppers in a food processor. Adding mango, garlic, salt, and honey results in a smooth puree after processing. This mixture is cooked with apple cider vinegar and lime juice until it thickens, intensifying its flavors. The sauce balances the sweet mango and honey with the fiery heat of habanero peppers and the acidity from vinegar and lime.

The simmering process reduces the sauce, concentrating flavors and giving the sauce more body. The sauce has a smooth texture suitable for drizzling or using as a dip. It can accompany grilled meats, seafood, or as a spicy sweet sauce for various meals.

Handling habanero chiles requires caution as their oils are very hot and can irritate skin and eyes. Wearing gloves and thoroughly cleaning surfaces after handling is recommended. The sauce should be cooled before refrigeration for storage.
