Mango Mojito
Description
The Mango Mojito cocktail combines fresh mango puree blended with lime juice and muddled mint leaves. White rum and a small amount of simple syrup or honey are shaken with the mango-lime mixture and mint to meld the flavors. The drink is then poured over ice and topped with sparkling water or club soda to provide effervescence.
This preparation yields a cocktail balancing the tropical sweetness of mango with the acidity of lime and cooling notes from fresh mint. The sparkling water adds lightness and fizz, making the drink refreshing but not overly sweet or heavy. Garnishes of mango slices, lime slices, and mint sprigs complement the drink’s fresh profile.
Ideal as a bright, fruity option, the Mango Mojito suits warm weather occasions or as a flavorful alternative to the classic mojito. The recipe can be varied with different rums or fruit purees to customize the flavor experience.
Choosing light white rum helps maintain a clean background for the mango and mint. Using fresh and ripe mangoes ensures the puree is flavorful. Adjusting the simple syrup or honey lets you control the sweetness level.
Ingredients
- 1 Mango peeled and seeded, fresh
- 2 lime divided
- 6 to 10 mint leaf plus more for garnish, fresh
- 2 ounces white rum
- 2 teaspoons simple syrup or honey (optional)
- sparkling water or club soda
- Mango for garnish, fresh, sliced
- lime for garnish, slices
- ice cubes
Instructions
- Squeeze 1 lime and combine the juice with the mango in a blender. Pulse until roughly pureed.
- In a cocktail shaker or mason jar, add mint, 1/4 of another lime (sliced), rum and simple syrup (or honey). Gently muddle together for 30 seconds. Add mango-lime puree, secure lid and shake vigorously.
- Pour mixture into two glasses, half-filled with ice and fill the remaining glass with sparkling water or club soda. Top with mint sprigs and slices of mango and lime.
Notes
- Use any ripe mango variety for the puree to ensure natural sweetness and vibrant color.
- Light white rums like Bacardi Silver or Cruzan Light are recommended for balanced flavor.
- Simple syrup or honey can be adjusted or omitted based on sweetness preference.
- Feel free to substitute the mango with other fruit purees like pineapple, peach, strawberry, blueberry, guava, or passionfruit for different variations.
- Muddling mint gently releases its flavor without bitterness, preserving freshness.
- Vodka can be used instead of rum if desired.
