Maple Bacon Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls combine soft, yeasted dough with a cinnamon and brown sugar filling layered with crisp bacon pieces. After rising, the dough is rolled and sliced into individual rolls, baked until golden, then topped with a creamy frosting of cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and real maple syrup. Additional bacon pieces garnish the top, adding a balance of sweet and savory flavors and a soft, tender crumb contrasted with the crispy bacon.

Description

This recipe starts by activating yeast in warm milk, then mixing in sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and flour to form a soft dough. The dough is kneaded until elastic, then left to rise until doubled. Meanwhile, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped bacon are combined to create the filling.

The risen dough is divided, rolled out into rectangles, brushed with melted butter, and sprinkled evenly with the bacon and sugar cinnamon filling. Each rectangle is rolled jelly-roll style, sealed, and cut into slices. The rolls are placed cut side down in pans, covered, and allowed to rise again.

After baking, the warm rolls are topped with a maple cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with extra bacon pieces. The combination of the sweet, spiced filling, smoky bacon, and maple frosting creates a rich, layered flavor and moist texture. These cinnamon rolls are an indulgent treat blending sweet and savory elements.

Ingredients

Servings

Dough

  • 1/4 oz active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 2 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4-4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Filling

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter melted, divided
  • Bacon chopped pieces

Frosting

  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 10 tbsp maple syrup real
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Bacon additional pieces for top

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl with warm milk, dissolve your yeast. In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, eggs, salt, yeast mixture and 2 cups flour; beat on medium speed until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will still be a little sticky).
  2. Knead dough onto a floured surface about 6-8 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Turn in a greased bowl, to ensure it is all covered. Top bowl with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  3. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and bacon in a small bowl, set aside. Punch down and divide dough in half on a lightly floured surface. Roll each portion into an 11x8" rectangle. Brush with one tablespoon melted butter and sprinkle with half of your brown sugar mixture.
  4. Starting with a long side, roll up jelly-roll style and pinch seam to seal. Cut into 8 slices. Repeat steps with remaining dough, butter and sugar mixture. Cut side down, place eight slices in each pan. Cover with kitchen towels let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Bake at 350°F until golden brown (about 20-25 minutes). Cool on wire racks.
  6. For frosting, beat all ingredients until well blended. Spread over warm rolls and top with more chopped bacon pieces. ENJOY!
