Maple Cinnamon Roasted Chickpeas

These Maple Cinnamon Roasted Chickpeas offer a crunchy snack coated in a sweet and warmly spiced glaze. Baking the chickpeas until thoroughly crisp gives them a satisfying crunch throughout, complemented by a caramelized coating of maple syrup, brown sugar, and cinnamon. This preparation brings a balanced sweetness with a hint of spice, making it a unique alternative to traditional roasted chickpeas. It's a good choice when you want a textured, naturally sweet snack that can be enjoyed by itself or added to trail mixes and salads.

Description

Maple Cinnamon Roasted Chickpeas feature cooked chickpeas that are dried and then baked until completely crunchy. They are coated in a mixture of olive oil, maple syrup, brown sugar, and cinnamon, which caramelizes in the oven to form a sweet, spicy glaze. During baking, the chickpeas are stirred periodically to ensure even crispness and caramelization. The end result is a snack with a balance of crunchy texture and warm maple-cinnamon flavor. Baking time is adjusted by testing chickpeas to achieve the desired crunch throughout the pieces.

The combination of natural sweetness from the maple syrup and brown sugar with the earthiness of cinnamon creates a nuanced flavor profile. This roasted snack can be served as a standalone treat or sprinkled over dishes needing a sweet, crunchy element. The focus on achieving a crunchy center distinguishes this recipe from softer roasted chickpeas.
