Maple Garlic Air Fryer Baby Carrots

Maple Garlic Baby Carrots cooked in an air fryer are coated with a glaze of maple syrup, minced garlic, tamari, and avocado oil, then air fried until tender and lightly caramelized. The result is a sweet-savory side with a touch of garlic that cooks quickly while maintaining a pleasant texture.

Description

The recipe starts by tossing baby carrots in a mixture of maple syrup, minced garlic, tamari (or soy sauce), and avocado oil or melted butter for flavor and moisture. The carrots are arranged in a single layer inside the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Air frying at 400°F for 12 to 16 minutes softens the carrots and develops a subtle caramelized surface. Periodic shaking or stirring during cooking helps them brown evenly.

This preparation gives the carrots a balance of sweetness from the maple syrup and a savory hint from garlic and tamari. The air fryer closes the gap between roasting and steaming, providing tender yet flavorful baby carrots.

For serving, the carrots can be garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro to add a fresh herbal note. They pair well as a side dish to many meals.

Optional substitution includes omitting oil or butter and using broth instead for an oil-free version. Cooking times may vary depending on carrot size and air fryer model, so monitoring near the end is recommended. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 3–4 days but are best fresh.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 ounce baby carrots package
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil or melted butter or margarine (optional)*
  • parsley optional, for garnish, fresh or cilantro

Instructions

  1. Add the carrots and remaining ingredients (except parsley) to a small mixing bowl. Mix until evenly coated.
  2. Then use a slotted spoon to place your carrots in the basket of your air fryer. (Don't dump everything in.) Arrange in a single layer and air fry at 400 degrees F for 12-16 minutes. Shake or mix the carrots every 5 minutes or so.
  3. Once cooked to your liking, remove the carrots from the basket and toss with the remaining glaze if you'd like. Then serve with fresh herbs and enjoy.

Notes

  • For an oil-free version, omit oil or butter and substitute a tablespoon of broth to maintain moisture.
  • Cooking time varies with carrot size and air fryer model; check tenderness near the end of cooking to avoid over- or under-cooking.
  • Leftover cooked carrots can be refrigerated for 3 to 4 days but are most flavorful when freshly prepared.
