Maple Glazed Carrots

Maple Glazed Carrots are sliced lengthwise and coated with a buttery mixture of maple syrup, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper before baking until tender. The roasting process caramelizes the natural sugars, enriching their sweetness and texture. Garnished with herbs, this recipe highlights a sweet-savory balance and a soft yet slightly crisp bite, suitable as a vibrant side dish.

Description

This recipe features peeled carrots cut lengthwise into even slices for uniform cooking. They are coated with a glaze made from melted butter mixed with maple syrup, brown sugar, salt, and pepper, imparting a sweet and lightly spiced flavor. Baking the carrots at 350°F softens them while promoting gentle caramelization on their surfaces, enhancing their natural sweetness and creating a subtle glaze.

The texture achieved is tender with slight bite, appealing for those who prefer cooked but not mushy vegetables. Finishing with fresh herbs like rosemary, parsley, or thyme adds an aromatic contrast and freshness to the sweet profile of the glaze.

For best results, select firm carrots of similar size for even roasting and consider sprinkling with Parmesan cheese after baking for an extra savory touch. The even slicing ensures consistent tenderness throughout.
