Maple Mustard Glazed Salmon
Description
This recipe calls for salmon fillets arranged in a baking dish and brushed with a glaze made from melted unsalted butter, maple syrup, grainy mustard (such as Dijon wholegrain), and soy sauce. The glaze combines sweetness from the maple syrup with the sharpness of mustard and saltiness from soy sauce, resulting in a balanced flavor profile that enhances the natural richness of salmon.
Baking at a relatively high temperature (425°F) for 15 to 20 minutes allows the glaze to caramelize slightly and the fish to cook evenly until it flakes with a fork. The result is moist, flaky salmon with a glossy, flavorful coating.
This dish works well served simply with sides like steamed vegetables or rice. The notes mention the glaze also pairs well with other fish varieties such as red snapper or cod. For best results, allow the salmon to sit at room temperature before baking to cook evenly. Leftovers should be refrigerated within 2 days or frozen up to 3-4 months; the glaze itself can also be stored in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
Ingredients
- 1½ pound salmon cut into 6 equal pieces, fillet
- ¼ cup butter unsalted, melted
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoon grainy mustard I used Dijon Wholegrain Mustard
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425℉.
- Arrange the salmon fillets in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, maple syrup, mustard and soy sauce. Pour over salmon. Add some freshly ground pepper, if preferred.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until salmon flakes with a fork.
Notes
- Allow salmon to reach room temperature for 10-15 minutes before baking to ensure even cooking.
- The maple mustard glaze is also suitable for other fish such as red snapper or cod.
- Store cooked salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days or freeze for 3-4 months.
- The glaze can be kept in a separate airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.
