Margarita Recipe

This Margarita Recipe blends tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice, and simple syrup to craft a well-balanced cocktail. The salted glass rim and citrus garnish add brightness and contrast to the smooth, slightly sweet, and tart drink. Adjusting simple syrup to taste allows for personal preference. It's an ideal cocktail to create with readily available ingredients and offers a classic margarita experience with a touch of orange liqueur.

Description

The Margarita Recipe combines tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup shaken over ice to create a refreshing cocktail. The salted rim enhances the drink’s citrus notes, while the garnish of lemon, lime, and orange slices adds additional aromatic layers and subtle fruitiness. The drink balances tartness from the lime juice and sweetness from the syrup, giving it a smooth and lively flavor profile. Simple syrup can be prepared in advance by dissolving equal parts sugar and water.

The preparation involves coating the glass rim with salt for contrast, then shaking the alcohol, lime juice, and syrup with ice before straining into the glass. The addition of citrus slices enhances the drink's flavor and presentation. This cocktail is best enjoyed freshly made and can be adjusted by adding syrup incrementally to suit different tastes.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • orange slices for garnish
  • lemon
  • lime
  • salt for the rim

Instructions

  1. Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in margarita salt. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, grand marnier, simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over ice and squeeze in lemon, lime and orange slices.
  2. For simple syrup: combine equal parts sugar and water, bring to a boil and let sugar dissolve, then turn off heat and let cool completely.
  3. This recipe can be easily doubled, quadrupled, etc. Since everyone’s tastes differ, add simple syrup 1/4 cup at a time and go from taste. I also suggest buying the lime juice if you plan on making a pitcher (or 2) considering you’d have to squeeze a billion limes to get enough juice.
