Maryland Crab Cakes

Maryland Crab Cakes are crafted from lump crab meat blended with mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, and green onions, bound with crushed saltine crackers. The mixture forms tender patties baked to golden brown perfection. These crab cakes deliver a delicate seafood flavor with a moist, cohesive texture and a crispy exterior that holds together well during baking.

Description

The recipe uses lump crab meat mixed with a seasoned mayonnaise base that includes Dijon mustard, lemon juice, hot sauce, and Old Bay seasoning, complemented by sliced green onions. Crushed saltine crackers provide structure and texture to bind the crab mixture.

After chilling the mixture to firm up the patties, they are baked in a preheated 450°F oven on a cooking-sprayed sheet pan. Baking produces golden brown crab cakes with a slightly crisp surface and moist interior, suitable for immediate serving.

These crab cakes are traditionally served with optional lemon wedges and remoulade sauce, which accentuate the seafood flavor and add zest. The dish is appropriate as an appetizer or main course, pairing well with light sides or salads for a balanced meal.
