Matcha Chia Seed Pudding
Description
This Matcha Chia Seed Pudding combines the hydrophilic chia seeds with milk and matcha powder to create a smooth, gel-like pudding after refrigeration. The chia seeds absorb the liquid and swell, yielding a creamy yet slightly textured consistency. Matcha green tea powder imparts an earthy, mildly bitter flavor characteristic of green tea, complementing the creamy base. Vanilla extract and sweeteners such as maple syrup, agave, or honey can be added to balance the bitterness and enhance flavor.
The pudding is assembled by mixing ingredients in a jar, stirring or shaking to ensure proper dispersion of matcha and chia seeds, then refrigerated for at least 20 minutes or overnight to allow thickening. Before serving, it can be stirred and topped with options like fruit, nuts, or seeds for variety. This dessert or breakfast item is plant-based if using non-dairy milk and sweeteners.
