McDonald's Egg McMuffin

The McDonald's Egg McMuffin recreates the classic breakfast sandwich with toasted English muffins, lightly browned Canadian bacon, and a cooked-then-steamed egg. The top melted cheese slice adds a creamy layer over the warm sandwich, balanced by butter on the muffins. This recipe involves gently poaching the eggs in a skillet using a ring mold to achieve a uniform shape and texture that mimics the restaurant style.

Description

The McDonald's Egg McMuffin features toasted English muffins spread with butter to offer a soft yet crisp bite. Canadian bacon is quickly cooked until lightly browned to provide a savory, meaty base. The eggs are cracked into ring molds then gently cooked with water and a lid to steam until set, breaking the yolk to match the sandwich's traditional style. Once cooked, the eggs sit atop the bacon slices within the muffin bottoms. Finally, a slice of American cheese is added before topping with the muffin halves, allowing the cheese to melt from residual heat. The combination creates a balanced breakfast sandwich layered in textures from the crisped muffin to the tender egg and melted cheese.

Serving this sandwich immediately maintains the ideal warmth and texture, and wrapping the finished sandwich helps soften the muffin and melt the cheese further, making it closer to the original fast-food experience at home. Enjoy these sandwiches fresh for breakfast or brunch.
