Meatloaf Burgers
Description
Meatloaf Burgers are crafted from a mixture of ground beef, quick oats, eggs, diced onion, and seasonings including Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. The oats act as a binder and add subtle texture. After mixing, patties are shaped and browned in a skillet without pressing them down, preserving their juiciness. After browning, water is added to the pan to finish cooking the patties gently until their juices run clear. A small amount of reserved ketchup is spooned over the patties before serving, adding a slight tang and moisture on top.
These burgers are assembled on toasted hamburger buns with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion rings, balancing the rich meat flavors with crisp, fresh vegetables. They make a satisfying lunch or dinner option with familiar ingredients in a new format.
Leftover patties should be refrigerated in an airtight container and consumed within five days to maintain freshness and safety.
Ingredients
FOR THE PATTIES:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 cup quick oats
- 2 egg
- 1/2 onion diced into small pieces, small
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
FOR THE BURGERS:
- 4 Hamburger Bun
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato sliced
- red onion sliced
Instructions
- Mix the patty ingredients together in a small bowl. Reserve 2 Tablespoons of the ketchup for the patty toppings. Mix the ingredients together with your hands and form into 4 even patties.
- Heat in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the heated skillet. Brown each side for approximately 5-7 minutes (do not smash the patties down when you flip them). Then add 1 cup of water to the skillet and continue cooking the patties until the juices run clear. Spoon the reserved ketchup on top of each Pattie (approximately 1/2 tablespoon on each patty).
- Toast the buns and serve the patties on the buns with the lettuce, tomatoes and sliced onions.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Refrigerate any leftover patties in an airtight container for up to 5 days to keep them fresh.
