Ingredients
- 1 ripe cantaloupe or honeydew melon
- 12 lices prosciutto halved lengthwise
- fresh basil leaves
- balsamic glaze for drizzling
Instructions
- Cut the melon in half and scoop out the seeds. Using a melon baller or a small spoon, create melon balls. Aim for 24 if you can. Place them in a bowl and set aside.
- Cut each slice of prosciutto in half lengthwise so you get 24 thinner strips.
- Take a strip of prosciutto and fold it once or twice so it's roughly the size of your melon balls. Place a leaf between the melon and prosciutto.
- Thread a melon ball onto a toothpick or small skewer, followed by the folded prosciutto and basil.
- Arrange the skewers on a serving platter. Right before serving, drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze over the skewers for that extra punch of flavor.
Equipments used:
Notes
- Melon Selection: Use ripe cantaloupe or honeydew for the best flavor and sweetness.
- Prosciutto Thickness: Opt for thinly sliced prosciutto for easier wrapping and a balanced taste.
- Basil Substitute: Mint or arugula can be used instead of basil for a different flavor twist.
- Serving Tip: Add balsamic glaze just before serving to maintain the best texture and appearance.
- Make-Ahead: Assemble skewers a few hours ahead, but refrigerate until serving.
- Vegetarian Option: Replace prosciutto with mozzarella or feta cheese for a vegetarian variant.
