Mexican Shrimp Cocktail

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail is a refreshing mix of cooked shrimp, diced avocado, thinly sliced red onions, jalapeño, and cilantro tossed in a tangy tomato-based sauce with lime and orange juice. This chilled appetizer balances creaminess, heat, and acidity for a vibrant seafood treat.

Description

This Mexican Shrimp Cocktail blends cooked shrimp with diced avocado, sliced red onions, finely diced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro for a fresh combination of textures and flavors. The dressing consists of lime juice, tomato sauce, ketchup, orange juice, salt, and black pepper whisked together to provide a tangy, slightly sweet, and mildly spicy sauce that coats the ingredients evenly.

The dish is served chilled and often garnished with lime wedges to add brightness. The creamy avocado complements the crisp shrimp and the subtle heat from jalapeño balances with the citrus and tomato base. This cocktail is light yet flavorful, suitable as an appetizer or light meal option.

To keep avocado fresh and prevent browning, it is recommended to mix it in just before serving. Using medium-sized shrimp (41-60 count) provides a tender and consistent bite.
