Microwave Omelette (in a cup)
Description
This microwave omelette is made by whisking eggs with salt and pepper, then partially cooking them with butter in a mug. Adding shredded cheddar cheese and optional ingredients like vegetables or meats after partial cooking keeps the flavors distinct and prevents sinking. The second microwave step finishes cooking the eggs fully while melting the cheese. Resting briefly after cooking lets the omelette set further.
The dish texture is creamy and soft, typical of microwaved eggs, with a convenient single-serving size perfect for quick meals. You can customize it with various mix-ins such as green onions, bell peppers, cooked sausage, or spinach, allowing flexibility based on available ingredients.
Since microwave powers and mug shapes vary, cooking times may need slight adjustment. Whisking until fully blended and adding a teaspoon of water or milk can improve fluffiness. Adding mix-ins once eggs are partially set prevents them from settling at the bottom and helps maintain a well-distributed texture.
Ingredients
- 2 large egg
- salt to taste
