Milk Chocolate Maple Bacon Cookies
Description
Milk Chocolate Maple Bacon Cookies blend cooked, crispy bacon pieces into a batter made from butter, brown sugar, real maple syrup, and maple extract, producing a dough rich in flavor with a noticeable maple sweetness. Milk chocolate chips add creamy, mellow chocolate notes, while the sprinkling of sea salt and extra brown sugar on top adds a slight crunch and balances sweetness with saltiness.
The baking process at 375 degrees causes the edges to turn golden brown, giving a slight crisp texture while maintaining a tender, chewy interior. The bacon pieces add a savory contrast to the sweet base, creating a distinctive sweet-and-salty combination.
These cookies are suitable for serving as a unique dessert or snack where sweet and smoky flavors are appreciated. They can be stored in the refrigerator within an airtight container to maintain freshness. They also can be made omitting bacon for a sweet maple and chocolate chip cookie, which offers a different but agreeable flavor profile.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Bacon cooked until crispy, well drained, cooled and cut in small pieces
- 1 cup butter 2 sticks unsalted, room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar plus extra for sprinkling, packed
- 1/2 cup maple syrup use real, not flavored
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt plus extra for sprinkling, sea salt
- 2 teaspoons maple extract
- 2 egg
- 2 3/4 all-purpose flour
- 1 12- ounce milk chocolate chips bag
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, baking soda, salt, and maple extract until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time.
- Mix in flour until well blended. Add chocolate chips and bacon. Using a one inch cookie scoop, scoop batter on prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle tops lightly with sea salt and brown sugar. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before transferring to a cooking rack.
Notes
- Cookies without bacon still taste good for those who prefer a sweeter, non-savory version.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator to retain their texture and freshness.
