Mint Lemonade
Description
Mint Lemonade features freshly squeezed lemon juice blended with fresh mint and rose water, creating a uniquely floral and herbaceous flavor. The simple syrup made from sugar and water sweetens the lemonade without overpowering it, while the blender purées the mint to release its aroma and flavor fully. The resulting drink is smooth yet lively with fresh herb notes.
This lemonade is typically served cold with ice and garnished with lemon wedges and mint sprigs for extra appeal. Adjust water and ice quantity depending on desired strength and temperature.
You can sweeten the lemonade alternatively using honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar instead of simple syrup. Straining the mint leaves after blending is an option for a smoother drink if preferred. Storing in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days keeps it fresh, and using warmed lemons by microwaving or rolling them helps extract more juice.
Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups water divided
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- 1 cup lemon juice about 5-6 lemons
- 1 ounce mint fresh
Instructions
- Make the simple syrup by combining the sugar and ½ cup water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is thickened but still clear colored, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat, add the rose water. Set aside to cool.
- Place the remaining water, lemon juice and mint into a high-speed blender and blend until the mixture is smooth.
- Transfer the mint and lemon mixture to a large pitcher or into individual cups. Pour the simple syrup on top and stir to combine. Serve with more water or ice cubes, if desired and garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices.
Notes
- Microwaving or rolling lemons before juicing helps extract more juice.
- Straining out mint leaves after blending makes for a less textured lemonade if desired.
- Alternative sweeteners like honey or maple syrup can replace simple syrup; adjust to taste.
- Store the lemonade in the refrigerator for 3-4 days to maintain freshness.
