M&M Cookie Bars
Description
This recipe starts with a dough mixing all-purpose flour, cornstarch, kosher salt, baking soda, and baking powder, combined with creamed unsalted butter, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and pure vanilla extract. After mixing, M&M's and semi-sweet chocolate chips are folded in, blending color and chocolate flavor throughout the dough. The dough is pressed evenly into a parchment-lined 9×13-inch pan, topped with remaining M&M's, and sprinkled with flaky sea salt before baking at 350°F for 20 to 24 minutes.
The finished bars have a tender interior with crunchy edges, punctuated by pockets of melted chocolate chips and crunchy candy shells. The flaky sea salt enhances the sweetness without overpowering the balance. Letting the bars fully cool in the pan before cutting ensures clean slices. These bars are a convenient and visually appealing option for parties, snacks, or dessert.
