Description
The Mozzarella and Roasted Tomato Pizza is built on fresh pizza dough stretched to about 10-11 inches, providing a soft yet crisp foundation. The pizza sauce is brushed on first, followed by shredded mozzarella for even melting and coverage. Halved fresh mozzarella balls add bursts of creamy texture after baking. Tomatoes are halved and roasted with olive oil and fresh thyme to concentrate their flavor and add an herbal note. Baking the pizza at a high temperature allows the cheese to brown lightly and the crust to develop color and texture.
Once out of the oven, torn basil leaves are scattered over the top, contributing freshness and aroma that complement the roasted tomatoes and cheese. This pizza delivers a satisfying mix of textures from the soft melted mozzarella and juicy roasted tomatoes with a fragrant herb finish.
Ingredients
- 8 oz pizza dough fresh
- 5 oz fresh mozzarella balls
- 5 oz mozzarella cheese shredded
- 4 oz tomato fresh
- 3 oz pizza sauce
- 1 prig thyme fresh
- 4 basil leaves
Instructions
- Half the mozzarella balls and tomatoes.
- Remove the leaves of the thyme from the stems. Brush olive oil onto the tomatoes and cover them with fresh thyme leaves. Place the tomatoes on a baking tray and roast them in a preheated 350 degrees F. oven for 15 minutes.
- Stretch and spread out the pizza dough onto a pizza pan. Use a rolling pin if needed. Aim for a 10 - 11 inch pizza base. Brush on the pizza sauce.
- Sprinkle on the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Add roasted tomatoes and halved mozzarella balls to finish the pizza. Place it in a preheated 450 degrees F. for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Garnish with torn basil leaves.
