Mulled Apple Juice

Report
Mulled Apple Juice is a warming beverage where apple juice is gently infused with spices like cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and nutmeg, accented by fresh orange and sweetened with honey. It offers a fragrant, mildly spiced flavor ideal for cooler weather. This drink is prepared by simmering the ingredients together without boiling to preserve delicate aromas.

Description

The Mulled Apple Juice recipe starts by combining apple juice with orange quarters, cinnamon sticks, and crushed cardamom pods in a pan. Clove-studded orange pieces and honey are added before gently heating the mixture until warm. The spiced liquid is strained into mugs and finished with a sprinkle of ground nutmeg.

This gentle infusion method keeps the juice's natural sweetness and clarity while layering warm aromatic notes from the spices. The drink can be customized as a non-alcoholic mulled wine substitute or transformed into an alcoholic cider beverage by swapping base liquids. Its comforting flavor makes it suitable for social gatherings or quiet evenings.

Care is taken not to boil the mixture to avoid bitterness and loss of essential spice oils. Using Manuka honey can add a distinctive, slightly robust sweetness. The recipe serves as a base for optional additions like rum or vodka for adult versions, or can be enjoyed as is.
