Mushroom Swiss Roast Beef Sliders
Description
This recipe assembles sliders using a whole package of Hawaiian rolls sliced horizontally, layered with slices of roast beef, sautéed mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. A butter sauce blended with garlic, Worcestershire, and onion powder is brushed on top before baking the assembled sliders to melt the cheese and toast the rolls.
The blue cheese horseradish sauce is gently warmed to combine blue cheese crumbles with sour cream, mayonnaise, green onions, horseradish, and freshly ground black pepper, creating a creamy, spicy condiment that complements the savory sliders.
These sliders serve well as appetizers or a main dish for casual occasions. The soft rolls contrast nicely with the juicy beef and earthy mushrooms, while the sauce adds a sharp, cooling element.
Leftovers should be stored wrapped in foil inside an airtight container or bag to maintain the softness of the rolls and reheated gently in the oven, air fryer, or microwave for best texture.
Ingredients
- 12 hawaiian rolls 1 package
- 8 ounces mushroom sliced
- 3/4 pound roast beef
- 1/2 pound swiss cheese
- 1/3 cup butter melted
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Blue cheese horseradish sauce:
- 1/3 cup blue cheese crumbled
- 2 Tablespoons sour cream
- 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons green onion chopped
- 2 Tablespoons horseradish
- black pepper to taste, fresh ground
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Take rolls out of the package. Do not separate them! You want them to be all together. Slice them horizontally through the middle so you have 2 flat slabs.
- Place the "bottom" slab in the baking dish, set the "top" aside.
- Sauté mushrooms in a medium-sized skillet and set aside.
- Layer roast beef, sautéed mushrooms, and cheese over the bottom layer. Place the top slab over the top.
- Combine butter garlic, Worcetershire, and onion powder in a small bowl and mix well. Using a pastry brush, brush butter mixture over the top of the sliders. Cover dish with tin foil and bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese has melted.
- While sliders are baking combine sauce ingredients in a small sauce-pot over low heat. Stir often until cheese mixture until cheese is just melted (remove before bringing to a simmer).
- Remove sliders from oven and serve with sauce on the side (each individual can put a little sauce on their slider).
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover sliders in an airtight container wrapped in foil to prevent the roll tops from hardening; refrigerate up to four days.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven, air fryer, or microwave until warmed through to preserve texture and flavor.
