Mustard Dill Beer Bread

Mustard and dill evoke classic German flavors in this quick beer bread that is great with stews and pairs incredibly well with ham.Yield: 1 (8 inch) loaf

Ingredients

  • 2 c all-purpose flour unbleached
  • 1 c white whole wheat flour or all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp dill chopped (or 2 tsp dried, fresh
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp mustard (your favorite version)
  • 12 oz ale-style beer

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. In a large bowl mix flours, baking powder, dill, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add mustard and beer and mix until just combined.
  4. Pour batter immediately into a greased 8 inch loaf pan.
  5. Bake 45 min, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  6. Let cool in the pan for 10 min before removing bread from the pan to cool completely on a wire rack.
