New York Strip Steak with Garlic Butter

New York Strip Steak with Garlic Butter highlights thick, well-seasoned steaks cooked in a hot pan to develop a deep golden crust. The addition of butter infused with smashed garlic cloves and fresh thyme enriches the meat with aromatic flavors. The steaks finish in the oven to reach a precise medium doneness, yielding a tender yet juicy texture. Resting the steaks allows the juices to redistribute, making the final slices flavorful and moist. This method delivers a classic steakhouse experience at home.

Description

New York Strip Steak with Garlic Butter focuses on perfectly searing the steaks in a high-heat pan using a neutral oil, then basting with butter combined with smashed garlic and fresh thyme sprigs. This combination imparts a subtle aromatic richness that complements the beef without overpowering it. After browning, finishing the steaks in a hot oven ensures even cooking and controlled doneness, aiming for medium at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Resting the steaks for five minutes post-cooking helps retain juices and tenderness.

The resulting steaks have a caramelized crust with gently infused garlic and herbal notes, while the interior remains tender and evenly cooked. Serving immediately after slicing preserves the texture and flavor balance created by the butter and pan drippings. The simplicity of seasonings and technique allows the quality of the beef to stand out.

This preparation suits a straightforward, hearty main dish and can be paired with classic sides such as roasted vegetables or a fresh salad to complement the rich steak. Its approach is traditional yet effective, emphasizing quality ingredients and timing.
