Instructions

  1. Clean and scrub the sweet potatoes under running water then peel (leave the skin on if you prefer).
  2. Trim off the ends of the sweet potatoes. Cut the sweet potato into 1-inch disks, and then into smaller cubes, about 1 inch in size.
  3. Transfer the cubed sweet potato to a large bowl. Add the olive oil, salt, and black pepper and ensure everything is well coated.
  4. Transfer the sweet potato chunks to your air fryer basket, close, and air fry at 390°F (approximately 200°C) for 13-14 minutes. Avoid overcrowding; depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in 2-3 batches. Check the sweet potatoes midway through cooking and shake your air fryer basket or carefully turn the potatoes using a spatula. Check for doneness by using a fork to press one cube of sweet potato on a plate. It should easily smush if cooked. Once cooked, transfer to a bowl and drizzle with honey, if using.
  5. For crispy and tender sweet potatoes, serve immediately (they turn softer as they cool).

Notes

  • Whether you choose to peel or not to peel is totally up to you; your sweet potatoes will taste great either way.
  • Cube your sweet potato as regularly as possible to ensure the chunks cook evenly.
  • Check midway cooking and shake your air fryer basket a few times to prevent burning. If using the Ninja Foodi Multicooker, use a spatula or wooden spoon to carefully turn.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent the sweet potatoes from turning too soft. You may need to cook the sweet potato cubes in batches, depending on how big or small your basket is.
