Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies made from quick-cooking oats, a blend of brown and granulated sugar, and molasses yield soft yet chewy cookies with a warm cinnamon undertone. The addition of molasses deepens the flavor and keeps the cookies moist. Raisins add sweetness and texture to these baked treats.

Description

This recipe starts by preheating the oven and preparing cookie sheets with parchment. The dry ingredients—oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon—are combined separately from the creamed butter and sugars. Creaming the butter with brown and white sugar creates a fluffy base for the dough, to which eggs, molasses, and vanilla extract are added for complexity. Gradually blending in the dry mixture and folding in raisins yields a thick dough.

Dropped by tablespoon-sized scoops onto baking sheets, the cookies bake until just lightly browned on the edges, resulting in a tender center with slightly crisp rims. Cooling briefly before transferring to a wire rack finishes the set texture.

These cookies balance oat chewiness with raisin sweetness and molasses depth, making them a classic comfort cookie suitable for snacks or dessert.
