Ohio Shredded Chicken Sandwiches
Description
Ohio Shredded Chicken Sandwiches start by slowly cooking boneless, skinless chicken breasts in condensed cream of chicken soup until tender enough to shred. Once shredded, a seasoned stuffing mix is stirred into the chicken and cooked further to moisten the bread crumbs, creating a flavorful, cohesive filling. This method infuses the chicken with savory broth and stuffing flavors, producing a rich texture that holds well in sandwich buns.
The recipe allows adjusting the filling’s moisture with chicken broth, ensuring it is not too dry or overly wet. The sandwich itself offers a comforting, homestyle option that uses simple pantry ingredients to yield a satisfying meal suitable for casual gatherings or family dinners.
These sandwiches are typically served on hamburger buns, making them portable and easy to eat. They can be paired with classic sides like coleslaw or potato chips to complement the creamy, savory chicken filling.
Calorie information will vary depending on specific brands used. For best results, use quality condensed soups and stuffing mixes, and monitor the cooking time to achieve tender chicken that shreds easily. Leftovers can be stored refrigerated and reheated gently to preserve moisture.
