Old Fashioned
Description
The Old Fashioned cocktail begins by dissolving sugar with bitters at the bottom of a glass using a muddler. Adding bourbon or rye whiskey provides the drink’s primary alcoholic base with rich, oaky, and caramel notes. A large ice cube chills and dilutes the drink slowly without watering it down quickly. Stirring allows the flavors to meld. The orange peel garnish contributes aromatic citrus oils, enhancing the overall profile with a hint of brightness and complexity.
This timeless cocktail is served in a rocks glass, ideal for sipping slowly and appreciating the layering of subtle sweetness, herbal bitterness, and smooth whiskey flavor. The balance of ingredients can be adjusted slightly to personal taste by varying sugar or bitters amount.
