Old Fashioned Impossible Cheeseburger Pie
Description
This savory pie starts with lean ground beef cooked alongside chopped onions and garlic, seasoned with salt and pepper. Once drained and mixed, it’s spread into a deep dish pie plate and layered with shredded cheddar. A batter made from Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs is poured over the meat and cheese to create a custard-like top. Baking at 400°F for 30 minutes results in a pie with a set center and golden surface.
The pie combines rich cheddar, umami beef, and a slightly crispy, soft topping. It serves as a filling main plate suitable for family dinners or potlucks. A knife test confirms doneness by ensuring the middle is fully cooked. The recipe notes that calories are estimated and storage in airtight containers keeps leftovers fresh for up to four days.
Allowing the pie to cool briefly before serving helps the layers set, and it can be sliced like a traditional pie for easy portioning. This recipe is a convenient way to turn ground beef into a comforting, easy-to-eat meal that’s distinct from classic burgers.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef lean
- 1/2 cup onion white, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400º Fahrenheit. Spray a 9" round deep dish pie plate (or cake pan) with cooking spray.

- Add in the minced garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well.
- Spread the beef mixture in the bottom of the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix, milk and eggs.
- Pour evenly over the beef and cheese.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until the middle of the pie is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted in the center should come out clean.
- Serve immediately.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
