Old Fashioned Impossible Cheeseburger Pie

Old Fashioned Impossible Cheeseburger Pie layers browned ground beef mixed with onions and garlic, topped with shredded cheddar, then covered with a Bisquick, milk, and egg mixture that bakes into a soft, golden crust. The cooking method yields a hearty pie combining savory meat, melted cheese, and a tender, set topping. Leftovers store well and can be reheated for lunches or dinners with minimal fuss.

Description

This savory pie starts with lean ground beef cooked alongside chopped onions and garlic, seasoned with salt and pepper. Once drained and mixed, it’s spread into a deep dish pie plate and layered with shredded cheddar. A batter made from Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs is poured over the meat and cheese to create a custard-like top. Baking at 400°F for 30 minutes results in a pie with a set center and golden surface.

The pie combines rich cheddar, umami beef, and a slightly crispy, soft topping. It serves as a filling main plate suitable for family dinners or potlucks. A knife test confirms doneness by ensuring the middle is fully cooked. The recipe notes that calories are estimated and storage in airtight containers keeps leftovers fresh for up to four days.

Allowing the pie to cool briefly before serving helps the layers set, and it can be sliced like a traditional pie for easy portioning. This recipe is a convenient way to turn ground beef into a comforting, easy-to-eat meal that’s distinct from classic burgers.
