Olive Garden Three Meat Sauce Copycat Recipe
Description
The Olive Garden Three Meat Sauce Copycat Recipe starts by sautéing chopped onions in olive oil until translucent. The marinara sauce and crushed tomatoes are added to form the sauce base and brought to a simmer. Ground beef and Italian sausage are browned separately, drained of fat, then combined with the sauce along with finely chopped pepperoni and Italian seasoning. The mixture simmers for about 20 minutes to allow the flavors to blend and deepen.
This sauce delivers a meaty, savory profile from its combination of three different meats, with a textured tomato base enriched by the seasoning and onions. It is suitable for hearty pasta dishes, baked pasta casseroles, or as a flavorful topping for other dishes needing a rich meat sauce.
The recipe yields a large quantity suitable for families or gatherings. Leftover sauce can be frozen for future use. Patience during the simmering helps develop fuller flavor as the meats and tomatoes mingle.
Ingredients
- 48 ounces marinara sauce 2 jars
- 16 ounces crushed tomatoes 1 can
- 1 cup onion chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage removed from casings
- 1/2 cup pepperoni chopped fine
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Saute onions in a large pot with about 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When onions have become translucent add the two jars of marina sauce, and can of chopped tomatoes, and turn down to simmer.
- In a large skillet brown ground beef and Italian sausage until completely cooked, drain fat from meat, and add meat into the large pot with the sauce. Add chopped pepperoni to the sauce mixture. Add 1 teaspoon of Italian seasonings to the mixture and all to simmer for about 20 minutes before you season to taste with salt and pepper.
Notes
- This recipe makes a large amount; increase marinara or tomatoes to stretch the sauce for bigger groups.
- Allow the meats to simmer with the sauce before adjusting seasoning to deepen flavor.
- For smaller servings, freeze leftovers to use later.
- For a smoother texture, pulse the pepperoni before adding.
