One Pot Ham & Penne Skillet Recipe
Description
The One Pot Ham & Penne Skillet recipe starts with sautéing chopped yellow onions and cooked ham to soften the onions and release the ham's flavor. Aromatics like minced garlic and dried herbs such as parsley, basil, and oregano add herbal notes without overpowering the dish. Adding chicken broth, milk, and flour creates a gently thickened cooking liquid that simmers with the penne pasta until tender. Frozen peas stirred in near the end provide sweetness and texture contrast. Finishing with Parmesan cheese brings a mild, savory richness to the dish.
The method uses only one pan reducing washing up and allowing the pasta to absorb flavorful liquid instead of boiling separately. This combines convenience and flavor by cooking the pasta with broth and milk while ham and aromatics season the dish. It's practical for home cooks looking for an economical, hearty meal from simple pantry ingredients.
Adding extra broth or water is recommended if the mix becomes too dry while simmering, ensuring the pasta cooks evenly. Serving suggestions aren't specified, but this could be paired with a simple green salad for a complete meal.
