Ooh La La (Mojito Inspired Elderflower Cocktail from DCL)

The Ooh La La cocktail is a mojito-inspired drink combining white rum, elderflower liqueur, mint leaves, lime wedges, and black cherry garnish. The lime and mint are muddled to release fresh flavors, shaken with rum, St. Germain, and ice, then strained into a glass with cherry syrup and topped with seltzer water for effervescence. It offers a bright, aromatic, and subtly floral twist on a classic mojito.

Description

The cocktail starts by placing two to three black cherries in the serving glass. Lime wedges and mint leaves are muddled together to extract lime juice and mint oils, which form the base flavor profile. Next, white rum and elderflower liqueur (St. Germain) are added to the shaker with ice and shaken to chill and blend the ingredients. The contents are strained finely into the glass to remove pulp and mint bits, maintaining a smooth texture. The cocktail is topped with cold seltzer to add light carbonation and balance the sweetness and acidity.

The use of elderflower liqueur introduces a floral note unlike traditional mojitos. Black cherry garnish and any syrup settled at the bottom can be gently stirred for added richness. This cocktail is suitable for summer refreshment or as a refined alternative in social gatherings.

Adjust the ingredient quantities proportionally if using larger glasses to preserve the cocktail's balance. High-quality cherries such as Filthy or Luxardo brands enhance the authentic flavor and appearance.
