Oreo Rice Krispie Treats

Oreo Rice Krispie Treats combine the classic crispy cereal and marshmallow base with chunks of chopped Oreo cookies and white chocolate chips mixed throughout. The treats are pressed into a baking pan for thick squares and topped with melted white chocolate and more Oreos for added texture and sweetness. This recipe offers a rich, chewy texture with bursts of Oreo crunch, making it a fun twist on the traditional Rice Krispie Treat childhood favorite.

Description

Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are made by melting butter and marshmallows together, then stirring in crispy rice cereal and chopped Oreo cookies. An additional portion of mini marshmallows and white chocolate chips are folded in to add extra creaminess and flavor. The mixture is pressed into a greased pan for shaping, then topped with a smooth layer of melted white chocolate mixed with a little cooking oil, sprinkled with more chopped Oreos for a visually appealing and tasty finish. The combination of the classic crispy texture with creamy, sweet white chocolate and crunchy Oreo bits creates a rich, chewy snack or dessert bar.

The treats are baked in either a 9x9-inch pan for a thicker result or 9x13-inch pan for a thinner layer, depending on preference. The white chocolate topping adds an extra touch of sweetness that complements the marshmallow base and the distinctive chocolate sandwich cookie pieces scattered throughout.

This dessert works well for casual entertaining or just a fun homemade treat. It can be cut into squares once set and stored for snacking later. The recipe balances the familiar marshmallow and crispy cereal base with the distinctive Oreo cookie flavor and texture.

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract pure
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt sea salt
  • 8 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 2 cups Oreo cookies chopped
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
  • 1/3 cup Oreo cookies chopped

Instructions

  1. For super thick Rice Krispie Treats, grease an 9x9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. For regular Rice Krispie Treats, grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. You can also line the pan with parchment paper to make it easier for them to come out of the pan. Set pan aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium high heat. Add the 16 oz bag of marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Add the Rice Krispies and chopped Oreo cookies; gently stir until well coated with the marshmallows. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows and white chocolate chips.
  4. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly press the mixture into the pan, using a greased spatula. You can also lightly grease your hands and press the mixture into the pan.
  5. For the topping, place white chocolate chips and oil in a small bowl. Heat in microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
  6. Drizzle the white chocolate over the Rice Krispie Treats. Top with chopped Oreo cookies.
  7. Let the Rice Krispie Treats sit until chocolate is hard, about 1 hour. Cut into squares and serve.
  8. Cover pan with plastic wrap or put the treats in an airtight container and store on the counter for up to 3 days.
