Our Fave Guacamole Recipe

Description

To prepare this guacamole, ripe avocados are halved, peeled, and pitted, then mashed gently to retain some chunkiness. Lime juice is added to brighten the flavor and slow browning. Chopped onion (white or red), seeded tomatoes, minced jalapeño (optional for heat), and fresh cilantro are folded into the avocado mixture to create vibrant flavor layers. Salt and pepper adjust the seasoning to taste.

The guacamole is best served immediately to enjoy its fresh texture and color but can be covered tightly with plastic wrap pressed onto the surface and refrigerated for up to two days to minimize browning. It's versatile as a dip with chips or as a topping for tacos, sandwiches, and other dishes.

  • 2 large avocado ripe
  • 1-2 lime juiced
  • ½ small white onion or red onion, finely diced
  • 1 Roma tomato seeded and diced
  • 1 jalapeño seeded and minced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro chopped, fresh
  • ¾ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, peel, and remove the pit. Place in a mixing bowl.
  2. Squeeze the juice from one lime into the bowl and use a fork to gently mash the avocados. They should be a little chunky.
  3. Add the onion, tomato, jalapenos, and cilantro to the avocado mixture and stir to combine. Taste and season with salt and pepper and additional lime juice as desired.
  4. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Press plastic wrap directly onto guacamole surface before refrigerating to slow browning.
  • Store refrigerated for up to 2 days for best freshness.
