Outback Steakhouse Sweet Potato
Description
The dish begins with a whole sweet potato wrapped in foil and baked at 375°F until soft and easily pierced with a fork, approximately one hour. Meanwhile, a honey cinnamon butter is prepared by blending softened butter with honey, dark brown sugar, and cinnamon, yielding a smooth, sweet-spiced spread. Once the potato is cooked and opened, it is generously topped with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a scoop of the honey butter, which melts over the warm flesh.
The contrast between the baked sweet potato's natural sweetness and creamy texture with the honey cinnamon butter adds layers of flavor and richness. The combination evokes a warm, cozy flavor profile that works well as a side dish to savory mains or a comforting snack.
Leftover honey cinnamon butter can be refrigerated for later use, making it convenient to prepare ahead or keep extra for other uses. The straightforward baking method requires minimal active cooking time, resulting in a tender, flavorful sweet potato ready to serve with the sweet buttery topping.
Ingredients
- 4 ounce sweet potatoes
Honey Cinnamon Butter
- 2 cups butter softened
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
