Oven and Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs
Description
Oven and Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs are prepared by placing whole eggs in an air fryer basket or on a wire rack inside a baking sheet for the oven. The air fryer method involves cooking eggs at 250º F for 15 to 17 minutes, depending on desired yolk firmness and appliance variations. The oven method roasts eggs at 350º F for 30 minutes.
After cooking, transferring the eggs to an ice water bath for five minutes quickly cools them to prevent overcooking and makes peeling easier. Both methods produce uniformly hard-cooked eggs with minimal mess compared to boiling.
Hard cooked eggs prepared this way can be consumed plain, sliced for salads, or used in meal prep. They are a convenient protein source and can be stored for up to one week in the refrigerator.
For peeled eggs, keep them covered with a damp paper towel in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Unpeeled eggs can be stored in any container. These cooking alternatives offer reliable ways to hard cook eggs with minimal water and cleanup.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
Instructions
Air Fryer Hard Cooked Eggs
- Preheat the air fryer to 250º F degrees. Arrange the eggs in the air fryer basket, leaving space for the air to circulate between the eggs. Close the basket and set the timer to cook for 15 to 17 minutes depending on your air fryer and desired level of doneness. Note that air fryers aren't all the same. I recommend testing one egg in your air fryer to determine the preferred cooking time for your specific air fryer.
- Remove from the air fryer. Using tongs, transfer the eggs to a mixing bowl filled with ice water for 5 minutes to prevent the eggs from over cooking.
- Peel and use or store.
