Oven Baked Bacon (Peppered Maple)

This Oven Baked Bacon recipe uses thick-cut bacon seasoned with cracked black pepper and finished with pure maple syrup for a sweet and peppery glaze. Baking bacon on a wire rack allows even cooking and crispiness throughout. The combination of pepper and maple syrup creates a balanced flavor that enhances the smoky meat without overpowering it.

Description

To prepare Oven Baked Bacon (Peppered Maple), the oven is preheated to 400°F and a baking sheet is lined with foil for easy cleanup. Thick-cut bacon slices are arranged flat on a wire rack placed on the baking sheet, then generously coated with cracked black pepper. The bacon is baked for 15 minutes to render fat and begin crisping.

After the initial baking, the bacon is removed and basted with pure maple syrup, which adds sweetness and helps develop a sticky glaze. The bacon returns to the oven for an additional 3 to 5 minutes until it reaches the desired doneness, balancing crisp edges with tender centers.

This method yields evenly cooked bacon with a peppery kick and subtle maple sweetness, suitable for serving as part of breakfast, sandwiches, or salads. The wire rack elevates the bacon so excess fat drips away, helping maintain a pleasant texture.
