Oven Baked Chicken and Gravy

This dish features boneless, skinless chicken breasts baked with sliced onions and a combination of cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy powder, and Parmesan cheese. The result is a tender chicken covered in a creamy, cheesy gravy that cooks covered initially to keep moisture, then uncovered to brown the topping.

Description

Oven Baked Chicken and Gravy is prepared by layering pounded chicken breasts in a baking dish topped with sliced onions. A mixture of cream of chicken soup and water is poured over the chicken to create a creamy base. Chicken gravy powder is sprinkled on top to add flavor and thicken the sauce during baking. The dish is completed with a generous layer of freshly shredded Parmesan cheese.

The casserole is covered and baked first at a high temperature to steam and cook the chicken thoroughly while retaining moisture. After the initial covered baking, the dish is uncovered to allow the Parmesan topping to brown and develop a slight crust. This two-step baking process ensures juicy chicken and a flavorful, slightly crisp cheese topping.

This preparation suits a simple main course and pairs well with steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes to balance the rich gravy. The layered ingredients produce a comforting, creamy texture throughout the dish that's hearty and filling.
