Oven Baked French Toast

Oven Baked French Toast is made by soaking thick slices of bread in a rich custard mixture of eggs, milk, cream, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, and melted butter, then baking until golden and set. The result is a soft, custardy interior with a lightly crisped exterior, ideal for a comforting breakfast.

Description

This recipe combines beaten eggs with a mixture of 2% milk, heavy cream, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salted melted butter to create a flavorful custard. Thick bread slices are soaked briefly in this mixture to absorb the liquid, then baked in a greased baking pan first on one side until golden, then flipped and baked more to cook through evenly.

The baking process produces French toast with a tender but structured texture that holds its shape when served. The cinnamon and vanilla contribute warm flavors, while the brown sugar adds subtle sweetness and the butter enriches the custard.

Serve Oven Baked French Toast immediately with toppings like fresh fruit, syrup, honey, or nut butter. Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container and reheated by toasting or warming in an air fryer.
