Oven Nachos
Description
The Oven Nachos recipe combines ground beef seasoned with taco spices, creamy refried beans, and black beans layered over crispy tortilla chips. The use of both cheddar and Mexican blend cheeses creates a rich melted topping that holds the layers together after baking at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Finely diced vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños add brightness and a bit of heat, while corn, sliced black olives, and avocado enrich the texture and flavors. The layering and baking method ensure the cheese melts evenly and the chips stay supported but still crisp in places.
After baking, the nachos are served warm with a variety of toppings including sour cream, cilantro, green onions, salsa, and lime wedges, which allow for customization of flavor and freshness. This dish fits well as a communal appetizer or a casual meal, sharing easily from the baking sheet.
The recipe suggests it can be adapted with different proteins such as chicken or pork and varied with any preferred toppings, making it flexible. Draining the cooked meat and rinsing the beans keep the dish from becoming soggy. The method ensures a balance of crispy chips and melted cheese with seasoned meat and fresh toppings.
