Oven Roasted Whole Cauliflower Recipe
Description
This recipe involves removing the stem and leaves from the whole cauliflower head, then thoroughly coating it with olive oil to ensure even roasting. Seasonings including garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and optionally a seasoning blend like Everything but the Elote (popularized by Trader Joe's) are rubbed on before roasting. The cauliflower is roasted in a covered baking dish at 350°F for 30 minutes, after which the foil is removed to allow the surface to brown and become golden over an additional 45 minutes.
The slow roasting softens the vegetable through while the uncovered stage creates a mild crispness and appealing color on the surface. The finished cauliflower is hot and should be allowed to cool briefly before slicing into wedges for serving. This method yields a simple vegetable side with gentle roasted flavors that can complement a variety of meals.
