Oven S'mores
Description
This recipe arranges graham cracker squares topped with pieces of milk chocolate and marshmallow halves on a rimmed baking sheet. Broiling in the oven causes the marshmallows to puff and brown while the chocolate melts, creating a fusion of textures and flavors reminiscent of traditional s'mores.
The quick broil method requires close attention to avoid burning. The finished s'mores are served warm, offering the contrast of crunchy crackers, silky chocolate, and soft, sticky marshmallows in each bite.
Oven s'mores are convenient for indoor gatherings when an open fire is unavailable. They can be customized by adding sauces like caramel or hot fudge for extra richness.
To ease assembly, chocolate bars and marshmallows can be pre-cut and refrigerated. Use a baking tray with sides to catch any melting chocolate or marshmallow, and watch carefully during broiling to prevent burning.
Ingredients
- 20 quares graham crackers from 10 whole graham crackers
- 7 full milk chocolate bars 1.55 oz each, each bar divided into quarters
- 10 regular size marshmallows cut in half horizontally
Instructions
- Lay graham cracker squares down on a large baking sheet with rims.
- Top each square with a quarter of a chocolate bar (3 connected squares - trust us, it will be more than enough, as it gets melty.)
- Place marshmallow halves sticky side down on top of each s'more.
- Set pan on oven rack (upper-middle position.) Broil on high for 2 minutes, watching very carefully to ensure it doesn't burn. If needed, rotate the pan and broil on low 1 more minute to get a nice color on top. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use a baking tray with sides to catch drips from melting chocolate and marshmallows for easier cleanup.
- Pre-cut chocolate into quarters and marshmallows in half ahead of time; store them in the refrigerator until ready to assemble.
- Watch the s'mores closely while broiling as marshmallows can burn quickly; rotate the pan if necessary for even browning.
- Optional toppings such as caramel or hot fudge sauce can be added for extra flavor.
