Pan Seared Steak
Report
Easy pan seared steak seasoned with salt and pepper, then finished in the oven. Cook the perfect steak by using a meat thermometer or use the hand touch test noted in the post.

Ingredients
- 2 beef steaks 1 inch thick (t-bone or ribeye are favorites)
- 2 tbsp olive or avocado oil
- 1 clove of garlic crushed
- fresh Rosemary
- 2 tbsp butter softened
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 F. Allow steaks to sit out for 30 minutes prior to cooking. They need to be at room temperature for the perfect flavor.
- Season steak with salt and pepper and set aside. Heat a cast iron pan on the stove until it begins to smoke. Add in olive oil and allow that to get hot as well.
- Place steaks in hot pan with the rosemary and garlic. Sear for about 2-3 minutes then flip.
- Slide the cast iron pan in the preheated oven and cook for about 11-13 minutes. Or until the steak has reached an internal temperature of 130 degrees when checked with an instant read thermometer.
- Remove steaks from oven and transfer them from the hot pan to a prepared cutting board and immediately top each with 1 tablespoon butter and allow them to rest for 10 minutes.
Notes
- The steak will continue to rise in temperature as it rests by about 5 degrees, so if you are looking for a more rare cook, remove them from the oven 5 degrees sooner than 130 degrees.
